Jennings; Independent Company Mississippi Cavalry to form the 9th Regiment Mississippi Cavalry, this company becoming Company D, of that regiment

Stevens for the war, recorded at the end of December, 1864 as absent at Carthage, Ala. with Lt. Col. Pegues commanding disabled horses of Brigade, surrendered at Meridian, Miss. May, 1865, paroled at Mobile, Ala. May 23, resident of Green County, resident of Green County, Miss.
* This company was formerly Company F, 17th Battalion Mississippi Cavalry. The 17th Battalion Mississippi Cavalry, the 17th Battalion Tennessee Cavalry and Capt. C. A. Jennings' Independent Company Mississippi Cavalry were consolidated December 24, 1863, to form a regiment which was known as Miller's Regiment Mississippi Cavalry until designated the 9th Regiment Mississippi Cavalry December 21, 1864.
