William E. Roach who served in Ballentine's Regiment of Cavalry enlisted August 11, 1862 in Ripley, Mississippi and was captured on December 25, 1864 at Pulaski, Tennessee. He was transferred to Camp Chase Prison in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio on February 17, 1865 and arrived there on February 18, 1865. He died in prison on March 15, 1865 of pneumonia and was buried there in grave number 1670.

Burials at Camp Chase Cemetery can be found at the following link. He is listed as W. E. Roach in this database.

Burials at Camp Chase Cemetery are also listed at the Veterans Affairs website but notice that in this database his last name is incorrectly spelled Poach instead of Roach, that is, W. E. Poach. In the search engine enter the name of W. E. Poach.

His burial is also listed at a website called Find A Grave:

I suggest you obtain a copy of his compiled service record.
