Arthur McCoy

I ran across articles in the Little Rock (AR) Gazette 4-16-1874 and the Galveston Daily News 4-19-74 reprinting a letter printed in the St. Louis Dispatch (presumably just prior) from an old comrade of Arthur McCoy's, saying that McCoy had died of lung hemorraging on the comrade's farm on the San Marcos River in TX on 1-11-1874. This letter was in response to rumors (see Chicago Inter Ocean or Little Rock Gazette 4-12-74) that McCoy had been killed (and Frank James wounded) in a shoot out with the law in AR.

According to the letter, McCoy denied rumors that he was part of the James gang.

I'm passing this along without necessarily vouching for the article's truth, knowing McCoy was very prominent in Edwards' book on Jo Shelby.
