Certainly it is not in the June 1964 issue. Could be elsewhere. Without lots of documentation I would tend to doubt it anyway. Caves are normally very high in humidity (>95%) and organics (such as a wool cap) tend to rot pretty quickly. It is not impossible but I have not been able to find any clues in the NGS index.
