I see it was a Mr. McClurg's store that was supposedly robbed. There was a Col. J. W. McClurg who "ordered into active service" several men for Company H of the 47th Reg. E.M.M. on August 8, 1862 at Linn Creek. Two of my Allison ancestors were in that company.
Interestingly, about a year earlier, those same two Allisons were Confederate supporters in the 6th Div., Missouri State Guards in 1861. They were captured at the Battle of Wet Glaize and Linn Creek in Oct., 1861 and were sent to prison in Rolla. After that, records show they were in Union EMM units.
