I am also searching for William Coleman- I beleive the same one Ric is looking for.
I read the Mo online report and then I contacted
Broadfoot to see what they had. They sent me William Colman- with the reference to Searcy's Sharpshooters - as is in the Mo record - but says he was captured in Louisiana - no mention of Alton.
Could the Mo record be from first hand sources - but not necessarily accurate sources? We never thought we had anything but a private - no knowledge of where he joined up -
Wm was in Moniteau Co for a while after the war.
Really want to know what eventually happened to him- he "vanished" even family didn't seem to have a clue. Where would be a good place to search.
