Capt Andrew Dusold

My Grt Grt Grandfather, born in Prussia/Germany. Was in the Union Missouri A Company, 43,rd Reg. Missouri of 1861 & 62. Fought at Vicksburg, wounded in the head. Was called brave & fearless by his commanders.

Left Union Army & went to Montana right after that. Became U.S. Marshall in the Helena area. Became a shoemaker before becoming a U.S. Marshall. Lived in Meagher County, invested in gold search in Avalanche Gulch in that county. Fought hard to stop the whiskey trade. Worked with the Blackfoot Indians.

Became mentaly ill & spent his last days around very late 1870s, died in 1880. He spent his days at Warm Springs Asylum, Deer Lodge County, died March 1880. His wound in Civil War contributed to his death.

Think he was in Wisconsin in the late 1850s with children. He had 2 daughters, & 1 son. One of his daughter, Josephine married Napolean Chapman Smith(Pennsylvania) around 1883in Helena, MT. Other daughter Emma lived & married Nick Fretz in Helena, she died in 1893, buried in Forestvale Cem, Helena.

Where was Andrew buried? Send me info at h76484_@hotmail.com. I live in Florida. Don't forget the underline between the last 4 & @ in my email address.
