Col. ODON GUITAR's 9th Missouri Cavalry was operating north of the Missouri River during July of 1862. Elements of the 3rd Iowa Cavalry were present too.

They ran right smack dab into Porter's Command at Moore's Mill in easter Callaway County on July 28, 1862.
