Sorry if I mis-lead you. I did in fact do some title searches for that area but was at the time concentrating on the Ritcheys. The note about Britton is curious. In his last book he mentioned, if memory serves, and I don't trust it completely at this stage, that he was in Texas in 1860 teaching, though he returned just before the war got underway. I was assuming early 1861.

The amounts for Peter Blow sounds like our man. Also it would follow that Livingston was doing some land speculation as I know the Ritcheys were doing a good deal of that about that time, mainly to promote a railroad into that part of the country.
