Re: Col Talbot and Thomas Livingston

Bob, about ten years ago I did a search of the records in tne Newtonia and Granby area to sort out who owned what prior to the war and afterwards. In the 1860 census records I noted the Britton homestead and farm tracks. I also noted that the census records described the land tracks, who owned what and the owners private worth. I do not recall the individuals name (though Kennet strikes a familiar cord) but it seemed that the biggest land owner around Granby was an Englishman of considerable net worth. However it seems to me that there were tracks of land adjacent to both this Englshmans and the Britton's located along Shoal Creek. Like you I was searching for something else at the time but recall the information 'as of interest'. I also would like to note that Wiley Britton at the time of the census was in Texas teaching and does not appear in the 1860 Census. Britton mentions in his book 'Pioneer Life in southwest Missouri' of this period and his family's circumstances. Then in passing he mentions Tom Livingstons land near his family's without specifics. That is as much as I recall.
