Its been a while since I looked at Polk's diary regarding the Missouri Raid. Let me check it again and get back to you. As best as I recall most of the diary deals with the last months of the war and his exodus to Mexico and then Cuba.
One of the best firsthand accounts of Price's Raid was penned by Dr. William McPheeters. We published Dr. McPheeters' dairy in 2002 (University of Arkansas Press). The book is entitled "I Acted From Principle: The Civil War Diary of Dr. William M. McPheeters, Confederate Surgeon in the Trans-Mississippi."
