Greatgrandfather John F. Schluesing's pension papers state he enlisted in Co. K, 25th Illinois Infantry at Otterville, 30 Sept 1861. A souvenier "Muster Roll" in his effects states unit was mustered into service at St Louis 9 August, 1861, to Jefferson City 26 August 1861, then to Otterville and Sedalia, assigned to General Sigel's command.
I'd be interested in details of why they were at Otterville so early in the war.
