Probably the best work on the pre-war struggles on the Mo-Kan border is Tom Goodrich's "War to the Knife: Bleeding Kansas, 1854-1861." Much of the information used in "Bad Blood" came directly from Tom's book, although they did a pretty good job of cherry-picking the portions that supported the Kansans as heroes and the Missourians as villains -- the result was a film that was so slanted as to be nearly horizontal. All in all, "Bad Blood" serves as an introduction to the border war, but ONLY an INTRODUCTION.
