Bruce, the 5th MSM is one of those MSM units I have danced lightly around for years knowing how confusing it was for me to keep track of what went where. February 63 saw a complete reorganization of the MSM to bring within the boundaries of the troop limits agreed to by Lincoln and Missouri govenor Gamble. I knew there were two different versions of the 5th as well as the 3rd but had fogotten that fact about the 5th. I have an early day book of captain Van Zandt (I believe it is) that I should one day transcribe as it does shed some interesting light on several topics for that area you mentioned. But I have other fish to fry at the moment.
