I had a couple of paragraphs written in my response and stepped away from this message for a minute and did some internet surfing. NEVER MIND! I was looking at a listing of microfilms available from the LDS site and did not see a heading for the 1st Missouri Cavalry (Gates) CS, only for the Consolidate 1st & 3rd MO Cav and for the 1st Northeast MO Cav. I've looked at another list and found the 1st MO Cav listed.

Oh well, even the illustrious webmaster makes a mistake now and again.

I've got an uncle in the 1st MO Cav CS, John Luther Martin, who enlisted at age 50 and died at Vicksburg in Jul-63.
