Thanks for the help everyone. I had this little article for years but now its apparently "Gone with the Wind" There is another possibility and with my memory a good possibility...it wasn't Fellman's. The data presented in the article showed that the CSA troops studied (including or primarily guerrillas, I forget which) from MO & Ky that could be identified in the 1860 Census were drawn largely from the top 25% of the socio-economic and educational levels.
