Yes, thank you. I am very familiar with Belgrade, having been born about 10 miles from there. My grandfather, James Marshall Downard, enlisted in the Union Army at Pilot Knob, MO, on Jan. 9, 1862 and served until Aug. 1865 when he was mustered out at Benton Barracks, MO, which was in St. Louis. He was with the 1st MO Light Artillery and may have been the driver of an ammunitions wagon. His regiment (Battery A) was attached thoughout the war to other groups. He did, however, see battle at Shiloh, TN and Vicksburg, MS. He was also in Algiers, LA. I have been to most of the battlefields where the 1st MO saw battle. I would be grateful for any information you could provide to me regarding the GAR. I am so grateful to have his bronze GAR medal. I want to find out as much about it as I can so that my children will have the history. My grandfather died in 1916. He was 41 years old when my father was born and my father was 64 years old when I was born. I have never had anyone to answer my GAR questions since I no longer live in that area. Thank you all for the hard work that you do preserving our history. Patricia
