I am trying to locate information on the arrest, confinement and sentencing of this man. i have posted on the Civil War Prisons Message board and Bruce Nichols kindly suggested that I try this board.
He was an officer in Company C Wheat's Louisiana Battalion until it was disbanded in August 1862. On April 9 1864 he was captured in St. Louis Mo and confined in Gratiot Street Military Prison. The prison records list him as Captain in Company C Louisiana Battalion CSA. On June 6 1864 he was sentenced under General Order #85, Department of Missouri, to hard labour at Alton Military Prison.
Any leads, thoughts or suggestions would be gratefully recieved.
Yours sincerely
Ross Brooks.
