NPS has Paris occupied by federal troops July 1862, headquarter at the Glenn House: https://ozarkscivilwar.org/photographs/paris-missouri/

Then 150 yrs ago May 4, 1862 Columbia Tribune reports:
"PARIS, Mo. — Lt. Theodore Brooks of Columbia, severely wounded in a friendly fire incident, was brought to the Glenn House Hotel here.

Brooks had been hit by a musket ball in the right thigh, resulting in a broken leg, as he was returning from a barn believed to be the source of hostile fire. According to the History of Monroe County, published in 1884 by O.P. Williams & Co., a band of guerrillas had learned of the presence of Brooks and his troops and planned an attack on their camp.

Brooks was an officer in Company F of the 9th Missouri State Militia Cavalry.

He was shot by Pvt. William Conger, who mistook Brooks for an advancing rebel."

Pretty sparse and all I find is the 1913 history which seems to be quoted frequently. - JJR
