Hi Neil--can you relate what you've come up with on this since the posts from the summer of 2022? At that time we were hoping to get somebody to check out the cemeteries in the area. As for the date of the action, it was 9/23/1864, which is heavily documented from multiple reports made contemporaneous to the fight. The mistaken 9/6/1864 date came from a single primary source -- Hamp 'Babe' Watts in his memoir written decades after the matter.
