"Forty-Eighter" burial site

CW records report that GGGrandfather, Charles Stick, Enlisted in Co. D. 2nd Missouri Volunteers, Light Artillery in September of 1861. He was mustered in early October. In January of 1862 he was sent home with consumption to be cared for by his wife. His military record says he died January 6, 1862.
We have no record of his burial in any location in St. Louis, including Wesleyan, Arsenal Island, Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, or "Old St. Marcus Cemetery."
A Sanitary Commission order dated September 20, 1861 (Missouri Historical Society digitized records) shows that effective September 20, 1861 all military deceased where to be delivered to "John A. Smithers, undertaker, on Chestnut street between fifth and Sixth streets." Others have mentioned John A. Smithers, undertaker, in postings on this site.
If anyone has suggestions for finding ancestor's gravesite, they would be appreciated.
