Re: Capt. Ford's Missouri Paw Paw Militia

By reading a few Missouri Provost statements, made by Lewis Ford's men of the 82nd EMM, it would seem to me that pretty much the entire company was recruited by JC Thornton to fight. Several men said they were sworn in "with the balance of Ford's company" and one said "the rest of Ford's company."
But Lewis Ford himself says he "reported with my company of some nineteen men."

So, the question is this.... I just counted 73 men of the 82nd EMM on the Missouri Digital Heritage: Soldiers Records. If several men said they were sworn in by Thornton "with the balance of Ford's company" and one said with the "rest of Ford's company" and Lewis Ford himself said he had nineteen men, where did the other 54 men go?

Did the remaining 54 head home after their July 8th muster out and the other nineteen stayed with Ford?
