Doctoral Thesis on Majors

LOL. Never mind, there was a doctoral thesis written on James Patrick Majors. He even has a Wikipedia page. Definitely my guy. From Fayette, Missouri, raised state troops for Missouri in 1861, etc. etc. He disappeared from Missouri because he returned to Texas, where he had served in the 2nd U.S. Cavalry before the war, and became a general there.

But back in Missouri in 1861, the "Majors Cavalry Battalion" I had been stumbling around with, had John Poindexter as commanding officer of Company A, and Harvey McKinney as commanding officer of Company B, starting an ill-fated alliance which would see them heading off together into the recruiting business in northern Missouri in the summer of 1862, and then into a Yankee prison.
