Freight Train Captured by Guerrillas

The freight train on the North Missouri railroad, on Wednesday last, hound down was stoped by a band of seveuty-four guerrillas, under one Capt. Brison, or Brisey, near Centralia, and fifty-three horses, taken off, which they led away. They also captured three Federal soldiers, a Captain and two privates. These they took away with them. The Captain asked what they intended to do with them? The guerrilla chief replied by asking what the Federal. intended to do with Bill Perkins, a brother of the rebel Major Perkins, and said if Bill Perkins was killed, they (the captives) would suffer the same fate. They took nothing else from the train, and did no injury to passengers except to march them out in a body and keep them under guard till their business was concluded. The capture was made at the tank, a short distance east of the town, where the guerrillas were posted in a ravine, and the engineer was made to back up to the Centralia stock-lot, where the horses were taken off. They also took off a negro man and would have shot him, but for the interference of one of the passengers, who told them the negros master had recently removed from Randolph county to St. Louis county, and that the negro was on his way to his masters new place, The guerrillas say they are determined no more horses shall be shipped on the road. Bill Stevens, a noted bushwhacker, we learn, made such a declaration in Sturgeon a few days ago, and the terrifying Bill Anderson has said he would kill any man who sent a horse down the road (Mexico Ledger.)
