Re: Colonel Benjamin Whitehead Lewis of Glascow

Other confusing info about this gentleman .

Why was the mother of BG John Bullard Clark, Jr. at his house when Bill Anderson showed up on 21 Oct 1864?

There was a family connection but I cant seem to find it

Supposedly, there was also a family connection to Sterling Price

From the NY Times article from November 20, 1864, the wife of one of the owners of the bank of Thomson and Dunnica, John S. Thomson, her name is Elizabeth Towler Thomson, saved Ben from Ike Berry and Bill Anderson that night in Glascow.
She called him her cousin. How were they related?
She gave them the additional ransom of $4000 in gold and $1000 in greenbacks.. how did she get it ? From her husband's bank? The same bank that Quantrill forced the other owner, William Franklin Dunnica, to give him $21,000 four days before.

Another "guardian angel" was a neighbor Mrs. (Julia Anne) Thrash, the wife of Mr. (William C.) Thrash. She accompanied them to Glascow and shielded him from Bill Anderson's bowie knife. Not much info available about her either.

Interesting

thanks
