Confederate Lt. John Brown

In August 1862 a large group of Confederates consisting of the Blackfoot Rangers, Purcell Scouts, and other obscure Boone County units very successfully raided Columbia, and broke out several Confederates who had just been rounded up at their homes after being turned in by local slaves. One of these Confederates was a cousin to the commanding officer of the raiding force, Capt. Young Purcell. The second-in-command to that raiding force was a "Lt. John Brown."

The following January, this same John Brown was involved in a second raid on Columbia, the goal of which was to repeat the success of the jailbreak. John Brown, Thomas Cave, Drury Pulliam and Sidney Jackman were involved this time. Columbia Jailbreak Part 2 was unsuccessful.

Then in October 1862, said John Brown, accompanied by Drury Pulliam, Russ Palmer and two dozen other Confederates made a raid on Rocheport.

Does anybody have an idea regarding who this John Brown is?
