Re: First Missouri Secession Vote

Nope not the 21st either, see page 50 through 60, most of day spent listening to the Commissioner from Georgia, no votes taken until evening session which were quite a mixed bag.

The actual final vote on the resolution to remain in the Union with the amended verbiage occurred in the evening session on the 21st with the vote being 93 ayes, 3 noes, 2 sick, 1 absent. Its on pg 59 of proceedings.

As I alluded to earlier, I think the 98 to 1 claim is not accurate, certainly not confirmed by the official record of proceedings. The only thing close is Redd's solitary dissent of the original sub-committee draft (not a vote) which was significantly changed by subsequent amendments by the convention as the whole before the final resolution being voted on the evening of the 21st with 3 no votes. I'll stand on the record published by Knapp as he was the appointed publisher of the proceedings and provided a copy to every county clerk in the state plus 5000 copies for the public.
