This is the first of two articles on the Rebels in Fulton that Kirby Ross sent me to interpret. The second article includes the newspaper editor's comments, but I have not finished interpreting it.

Gang of Rebels in Fulton
Fulton, in Callaway County, was visited by the rebels twice last week. First a certain Fowler came to the city and took what he needed from the various stores and demanded the release of a rebel prisoner in the asylum; however, he left the same behind, because he was too badly wounded to be able to travel, under the promise to release him later. He then gave the owners of the newspaper instructions on how their paper should be written in the future.
On Wednesday, Cobb’s gang returned, 180 men strong were in the city. They rode down the street at a gallop singing Dixie. On Main Street, they dismounted and robbed the stores of everything possible. Various horses were taken from union citizens and excellent union men were arrested, but after a sermon by the robber chief, Cobb were again released. They stayed until it was about dark and turned to the east of here. While he was in possession of the place, Cobb gave the order to shoot all Negroes if they were absent from home without a pass.
