I am trying to follow a soldier's chain of events and I am stuck on which Independence he fought at!

He was in the 10th MO. Cav. (CSA) and signed up on August 10, 1862 under Cockrell in Johnson County, Missouri. One of the battles he fought in was Independence, Missouri. What I can't figure out is did he fight at the August 11, 1862 Independence or the October 1864 Independence. Was the 10th Missouri Cav. at 1864 Independence?

I am thinking it's 1862 because the timing of him sighing up on August 10th seems a might suspicious.
