CHARLES BERTLEY MASTERSON, b. September 20, 1841, Missouri; d. October 22, 1907, Waverly, Lafayette County, Missouri; m. SARAH ELIZABETH VANSICKLER, October 17, 1872, Lafayette County, Missouri

Fifth son of Hugh and Isabella Masterson. Charles enlisted Gordon's Regt. Cav., 18 August 1862 at Lexington, MO. Wounded at Springfield January 8th, 1863 (appears on a roll of wounded from Co C, Shelby's brigade, wounded in leg and body)he was taken prisoner. He was exchanged April 1863, eventually joined Co C, 4th Missouri Cav. ends up in Ocmulgee hospital, Macon Georgia in July 1864 with dysentery. Transferred out Jul 23, '64. I found a PM index card but no record and have not discovered a surrender or parole record.
