All three were brothers. Alternate spelling found in several places AKERS/ACRS. They are together as family unit in 1860 census.

Daniel and Calvin served in MSG starting out in the California Guards, Daniel elected Srgt. (From History of Cole, Moniteau, Morgan, Benton, Miller, Maries and Osage counties, Missouri. http://cdm16795.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/ref/collection/mocohist/id/88767 pg 359) from same source the two deaths are listed as at Glasgow MO Oct 1864, and "In the South" 1864. The Oct 64 death matches the memorial stone for Calvin. That would make him part of Price's 1864 raid.

Members of the M.M. Parsons Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans visited California Saturday, March 21, to decorate the gravestones of three veterans of the Civil War who fought on the Confederate side.

The markers for three brothers, two of which never returned from the war, were recognized and decorated with battle flags.

All three brothers served in Company A, Third Battalion, Missouri Calvary, Confederate States of America.

Calvin Acres, born 1839, served as sergeant. Daniel Lafayette Acres, born 1840, served as lieutenant. John Milton Acres, born 1843, served as a private, survived the war and died in 1912.

A certificate of appreciation was presented to Jim Albin by Commander Darrell Maples in appreciation for the work of the Moniteau County Historical Society in bringing the veterans to the attention of the organization.
