In his genealogical work "The House of the Burgesses", Michael Burgess notes
"Rev. Garland A. Burgess ... and his wife are buried in the Old Smyrna (or Post Oak) Cemetery, Centerview township, near where his church stood (it was burned on the night of 22/23 Mar. 1862, at the same time his brother's house was torched by Union troops)...

Although the burning or the John Burgess house is well documented, I can find no reference in any military report of the burning of a church as part of that raid. Is anyone aware of some other reference that mentions this?
