Four of Crabtree's Men

According to Ruth Bond, who at age 20 was arrested and sent to Gratiot Street Prison for aiding bushwhackers, four of the Hickory Hill area men who served with Crabtree were Mike Clark, James Revis, and John and Wiley Shoemake (Schumate). Ruth and her 18 year old sister Sarah were recommended for banishment by Lt. Col. Switzler, but the authorities in St. Louis got fed up with the testimony being sent to justify their incarceration and released them about a month after they arrived at Gratiot.
