I have before me Mike Banasik's "Cavaliers of the Brush" which is a series of newspaper articles written about Quantrill's guerillas that appeared in the Houston Daily Telegraph in Dec. 1863 and Jan. - March 1864.

The writing resembles the reports and post-war writings of Shelby's adjutant, John Edwards.
