Thank you for your reply. I'm just getting into researching these Bybee cousins. Solomon's uncle Levi Bybee of California, Moniteau County and also of Benton County served in the 8th Kansas. Solomon's father James Bybee may be the same James who served in 1st & 3rd (what it looks like on the prisoner of war record) Missouri Cavalry (Confederate) and was captured 4 May 1865 at Citronella, Alabama and paroled 13 May 1865 at Jackson, Mississippi. James' brother John Bybee, I believe, is the same John who served in the 5th MSM Cavalry. There was another brother, Buford Simeon Bybee, but I haven't looked at him yet.
These four brothers, John, James, Levi and Buford were sons of Buford Bybee and Margaret Welch of Barren Co Ky. Buford Bybee was named for Col. Abraham Buford. His grandfather John Bybee Jr served under Abraham Buford in the Revolutionary War.
