Capt William Baxton and Company B of the 47th Mo Infantry rode out from DeSoto garrison and killed 5 southern sympathizers. One was Laiborn "Lave" Pruitt

Bruce's book (Vol IV, pages 57-58) says mid-November 1864 but his footnotes reference a newspaper article from the Daily Missouri Republican Oct 17, 1864. So when did it happen?

To make it worse, a genealogist for the Pruett family transcribed his probate for 1862. I'm guessing it's an error, but with the seeming inconsistency in Bruce Nichol's book, I'm having trouble getting the Pruett researcher to check the probate file--which references a land deal that I am tracking.

Anyone know?
