The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Jefferson Barracks Hospital Records

Do the records have the location (hopital ward) or steamer that deliverd soldiers? I am compiling a history of Gilberry Specie (appearing in records as various misspellings, including Gilberg Specia?) He took a load of grapeshot at Jackson, MS, and was transported to Jefferson Barracks, where his arm was amputated. I am writing this from the new Civil War Museum that sits in the old PX building where the Hospital once was. We don't know where the arm would have been disposed of course. Gilberry Specie is buried in Morris, Illinois.
