ID Badge 3rd Colorado Volunteers

Recently dug a "find of a lifetime" silver ID badge which belonged to a Private Charles M. Webster of Company D 3rd Colorado Volunteers. As best I can tell in searching through the National Park Service records his name comes up under 3rd Regiment, Colorado Infantry as well as 2nd Regiment, Colorado Cavalry which apparently the 3rd joined with the 2nd Infantry to create the 2nd Colorado Cavalry. It also shows he joined Company L under 2nd Colorado Cavalry and remained as a Private until Mustered out. After that, things get a little blurry! Not sure where else to look up information on this Soldier. Can someone direct me or provide anymore information regarding this artifact. Thanks in advance!
