Re: Elisha Statler, Co. G, Jeffries Battalion

I took a quick look at his military records and found this. He was by confederate authorities dismounted, unarmed and taken to Searcy, Arkansas July 26,1863 remarks deserted. He turned himself in at Lewisburg, Arkansas to Union authorities on December 1, 1864 and was placed in the military prison there. He was transferred to the Little Rock Military Prison on January 15, 1865, from there he was transferred to the Gratiot Street Military Prison, St Louis, Mo February 15, 1865. He was paroled and transferred from St Louis, Mo to Point Lookout, Md. for exchange on February 23, 1865. A Henry Statler and Jacob Statler were also in Co G 8th Mo Cavalry.
