I'm sure this is discussed here all the time or has been but I went back pretty far on your board and couldn't find any threads regarding the subject. I apologize in advance.

A friend of mine who is local to SW Missouri recommended this board to me in reference to the Alsup/Hatfield Feud. I'm a direct descendant of Elizabeth Davis (The Widow Davis) from Isaac through their youngest son Cary/Carry (b. 1861).

Over the last few weeks I've become pretty familiar with many of the newspaper clippings on file with the Missouri Historical Society but I'm sure that only skims the surface. I was curious if there was anything more that others in their knowledge could impart on me about what had occurred.

I also have to admit that other than being from Kentucky, I am completely lost on Isaac Davis (b. 1820, Kentucky). Was he a bushwacker or bushwacked? I'm unclear as to whether the Davises were Union or CSA, or both. Where exactly was he from in Kentucky?
