Lawther's Dismounted Cavalry

I am looking for information on Col. Robert Lawther's "temporary" Dismounted Cavalry. I know it was a regiment made from companies of his own and of Shelby, Jeans and Thompson. But...I cant seem to find WHAT they did and where. I am interested in this because of a soldier in the 4th Mo. Cav., Co. D by the name of George Hibdon (spelled Hibden on his service records). He was assigned to Lawther's Dismounted in July - August 1863. His records tell nothing more because he has only two service cards and his records are incredibly incomplete. I cant figure out what LDC did or where they fought. Can someone fill me in? Thanks!
