Isaac W Short, Private, Company D, 5th Infantry, commanded by Lt. Col. Erwin,* enlisted Jan. 5, 1862 at Springfield, Mo. by J. M. Weidemeyer for 12 months, paid $50 bonus, present at the June 30, 1862 muster, no further records

* Erwin’s Battalion was also known as the 5th Battalion Missouri Infantry, and as the 3rd Battalion Missouri Infantry, and was broken up in August, 1862, at which time this company became Company F, 6th Regiment Missouri Infantry
