Two Diedrich Kastens served in Mo EMM units:

enrolled Aug 1862 Lexington, Mo in 71st Regt. EMM, released Dec 1962

Killed by bushwhackers 13 July 1863, buried Concordia, no stone.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

(2) Diedrich born ca 1820 of Morgan and Pettis County (Diederick Kastens in Mo Archives)

enrolled July 1863 Syracuse, Mo in Co. B 9th Prov. Regt. EMM, released Nov 1863.

Died 1906, Smithton stone reads "Dedrick Kastens CO B 71 EN MO MIL"
but 1892 pension application reads "Diedrick Kestens, B 9 Prov Co Mo Mil"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

So #2's stone apparently lists #1's unit! (Not my kin just wondered if common)
