Sarah Jane Smith

Most of you know the story of Sarah Jane Smith, the girl who destroyed the telegraph lines near Springfield, then again in Texas County. Does anyone know her family or what happened to her after she was released from Gratiot?
I have 31 pages on her from the Provost Marshal Records plus some information from the Gratiot records from the same source. The trial records say she was from Washington Co., Arkansas. She told them at Gratiot she was from Madison Co., Arkansas. It sounds as if she came into MO from Washington, but was from Madison. About half of the records say Miss and about half say Mrs.
Some on line sources and books say that her mother died when she was 13 and her father had been with Price for two years. No sources given. Her age when arrested is sometimes given as 16, sometimes 18. The newspapers, of course, picked up the 16 year age.

A side note on another subject.
This may be old information but it is new to me. I ran across it accidentally in the Gratiot records. Otho Offutt was captured Oct. 19, 1864 in Iron County. He was sent to Gratiot and was still there in early February. It says he was from Johnson County. I didn't find a release date but I know he surrendered at Rocheport on June 11, 1865, so he apparently was released and rejoined the guerrillas.
