Young Peck, age 17, Private, Company E, 3rd Battalion Missouri Cavalry, enlisted December 26, 1861 at Springfield, Mo. for 3 years, captured at Vicksburg July 3, 1863, paroled July 9, furloughed for __ days July 20, did not return at the expiration of this period, declared at the end of the year as having deserted, described as a Farmer, resident of Maynesville, Pulaska County, under remarks are listed Elk Horn, Farmington, Corinth, Iuka, and Vicksburg.* “Went to Q. M. Dept.” no other records

* Believe these were engagements in which he was present. The notation went to QM Department is not understood. Perhaps he had been detailed to the QM Department prior to the Vicksburg surrender.

William H. H. Peck, Private, Company A, 3rd Battalion Missouri Cavalry, enlisted January 24, 1862 at Springfield, Mo. for 1 year, recorded on the July/August, 1863 muster roll as absent without leave, subsequently recorded as having deserted September 1, 1863, no further information

Note: There are no 1864/5 muster rolls in the records for either of their two companies. Lacking these rolls, we cannot verify that they may have later returned to their commands
