Yep. Kiernan was a very politically connected New Yorker. Started out in the 69th New York Infantry; came out to Missouri where he first served in Dallmeyer's Six Month Militia, then the 6th Missouri Cavalry; then went back east where he met with Lincoln and received a commission as brigadier general. In the 6th Missouri Cavalry he served only very briefly under Hawkins in Arkansas. There's a bit in the memoir regarding SWMO, nothing for SEMO. Kiernan spent a lot of time in the memoir dropping names of the movers and shakers he was connected to. Interesting, but not going to add much to Missouri Civil War historiography.
