Skirmish at Devil's Branch, Johnson County Mo.

Today I spent time in Johnson County Mo. trying to locate the Perdee farm near Columbus no luck, I wanted to photo document the location. Anyway I went to Warrensburg and took photos of George Cruzen's grave, thanks to help I received from some of you as I was walking back to my car, this older gentleman stopped and asked what I was doing so I explained, I take pictures of Civil War related things, with my main interest being documentation of Missouri Guerrillas graves.

Me being the age of 56, the older gentleman I would guess was in his mid to late 70's. He said that prior to the Guerrillas gathering on the Perdee farm for the Lawrence Raid there was a skirmish along Devil's Branch right at the location where 50 highway crosses the branch. This location is about 1/4 to 1/2 miles west of Post Oak creek for those who are familiar with this area. For the record I have never heard or read about any skirmish at this location, but, there are many many things I don't know about the Civil War and life in general. My question is has anyone ever heard of this? He said that it happen about August 15 or 16th 1863. He gave no names or units engaged, but he sounded sincere, he also did not know the location of the Perdee farm. It all sounds very strange to me, therefore I once again ask for help in seeking answers. Did this happen and where is the Perdee Farm exactly.

I drove all around Columbus in every possible direction. HELP.................
Thanks for your help in my prior questions and searches, as always any help is greatly appreciated.

Steve
