Wood's Regiment/Colonel Wood

Hey, everyone.

I was wondering if anyone could please provide me with some details about Major/Colonel Robert C. Wood, commander of Wood's Regiment (also called 13th Battalion, 14th Regiment, or Partisan Rangers) Missouri Cavalry, such as his place of residence when he enlisted, if he survived the war or any kind of personal data that is found. The reason I ask is because one of the troops under his command was my ancestor and his wife's maiden name was Wood and I am trying to see if there is a connection between the two Woods.

Also, I am curious what exactly defines "Partisan Rangers" and if anyone could please provide me with info on the regiment's service from October, 1864 to the end of the war.

I appreciate everyone's willingness to answer questions on this forum and their vast knowledge!
Thank you,
Mike Thompson
