Re: Camden Point fight confusion

Richard and George,

Regarding the 15th Kansas Cavalry, all I can determine is that Colonel Jennison led the 40 or so troopers of one company, but I cannot find anything stating which company. Some of the 15th, including Company D and L were stationed at distant Fort Scott based on something I wrote from Broadfoot Publishing Company's "Supplement to the 'O.R.', but I know Company E was stationed near Kansas City at this time. A patrol of the 15th into Platte County about one month earlier involved Company H personnel, so there is a good chance that company was involved in July at Camden Point. I know this is not definitive, but it's all I can do for the 15th Kansas Cavalry.

About the 2nd Colorado Cavalry, of course Company F was involved, but you wanted to know the identity of the second Colorado company. I have a short newspaper article on 16 July 1864 in the Kansas City paper, that Captain West led Company F, but the writer, who seemed to be from the Colorado regiment, wrote that Captain Moses of Company M, and Lieutenant Wise of Company D were also at Camden Point. Maybe these officers were there by themselves, or perhaps with their company. I don't know for sure.

That's about all I can do from the sources I have.
