Re: William O. Blackmore of Carroll County

Thomas Jefferson Blackamore is discussed at length (chapter 21, pp 128-134) in Hugh P. Williamson's book "South of the Middle Border" (Dorrance and Company, 1946). Williamson, who grew up in Carroll County, Mo., was a distant relative of this Blackamore (he spells it this way consistently) and also a nephew of James Pritchard. Williamson seems to have personally known this Blackamore and alleges he was with Quantrill and Anderson and had a more than casual relationship with Jesse James, Frank James and Cole Younger. Williamson believes Thomas Jefferson Blackamore was at Centralia. Williamson believes Thomas Jefferson Blackamore was originally from Clay County and was about 13 or 14 when the war begins and says he died in 1922.
Hugh Pritchard Williamson (1904-1980) was a lawyer, Judge, foxhunter and writer mostly from his longtime Fulton, Mo. home. His several other books include "The Kingdom of Callaway" and The Story of Bolivar King of the Hounds in the Kingdom of Callaway".
